B2B Marketing Changes the World Marketplace
Business to Business marketing, referred to as B2B marketing, involves selling your goods or services to another business. The goal of this type of marketing is to support the operation of the client company. and increase the marketing, sales, profits and operating efficiency of a company.
This type of marketing is used almost exclusively on the Internet, although traditional business approaches are used as well. It involves marketing your business services to other business, such as: importers and exporters, traders and brokers, manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers, all meeting via the Internet to form business relationships. Even various governments and non-profit institutions benefit from B2B marketing.
B2B marketing tends to employ online technology to improve business functions – such as email marketing, Pay-per-click ads, pop-up banner advertisements and online communities. Of course, many companies use these tools in combination with standard marketing approaches.
Most businesses involved in this type of marketing use a B2B Portal. A portal is an access point where businesses can meet and view goods and services. Portals are web pages, which include features, benefits and service descriptions. Users are provided with access to a search engine that shops these web pages directly. These engines are developed to find specific keywords related to the site, and return business sites as a result.
Some portal sites offer a fixed fee access to the site. These sites aren’t necessarily interested in sales that result from the transaction, they are merely a listing of eligible business. With the other version of a portal, these portals make money when revenue is generated as a result of their listing.
Business to business marketing is a great way for companies to control their costs. Because all the marketing is done online, these companies can eliminate or substantially reduce their printing, distribution and postage costs. Sales are easy to track using detailed tracking software. This form of marketing facilitates the search for supplies, sellers and buyers.
Business 2 Business Marketing
It also makes it easier to connect world-wide with companies, instead of limiting your search of suppliers or providers to one country, you are able to connect with businesses all over – India, China, Japan, Australia, Germany, Canada, etc. You can specify whether you only want to work with a company in a specific country, or open up your business to other countries.
There are a number of Trade Offer companies that post their products for sale via online auctions. This allows various companies to view the merchandise (or service) and make bids on those goods. Much like the consumer auction sites, these sites make it easy for businesses to find and bid on goods or services.
B2B marketing is growing, but at a slower rate than one would expect, certainly not at the same exponential rate of most internet sales. While business to business marketing can have huge cost savings for companies, the program needs to be monitored by a reliable and experienced professional. It’s important to carefully track and maintain complete records of all business transactions, and investigate business carefully. This marketing opens doors you couldn’t have accessed without the Internet.
